We are the Save Sherwood Committee, and we are working hard to save the Sherwood Golf Course from adding an additional 796 homes to our neighborhood. Due to aging infrastructure, we are already experiencing major flooding issues during tropical storms, hurricanes and other major rain events. Currently the Average Daily Traffic (ADT) on Carpenter Road is 7,000 trips per day. The estimate is that these new homes will add an additional 6,000 ADT bringing the total to 13,000 ADT on Carpenter Road. The increased traffic will be a risk to the children in the neighborhood, potentially obstructing emergency vehicles and overload a road that is not designed for this. Building all these new homes will only exacerbate these problems along with school overcrowding, property values falling and the safety of all people in our community. We are a great neighborhood! The community comes out to celebrate Halloween and Christmas Eve, even those who do not live within the neighborhood. If we don’t take a stand now, the city will rezone the golf course destroying the character and quality of our beloved neighborhood. Please consider donating! Your money will go directly to a fund for legal representation and costs associated with fighting this.
You can donate to the cause at GoFundMe.com. Checks will also be accepted and will not incur the GoFundMe transaction fee. All donations large and small are greatly appreciated.
